Our corporate
environmental
responsibility

Our commitment to sustainability starts at the very beginning of the journey here at The Monty Bojangles Co From sourcing ethically grown raw materials to responsible packaging, we take care at every step to ensure we’re doing the best we can.

Doing good together

When it comes to big issues that affect lots of people it’s hard to make an impact alone, so we work with others to make our efforts count and help us become more accountable for our business practices.

Our
Commitment

This is how we make a difference every day

Having a big impact is often about the small changes we can all make. These are some of the ways we contribute to make ours a better, more sustainable industry.

Recyclable
& sustainable
packaging

From the smallest detail, like the individual packaging films on our truffles to the logistics of distribution we strive to minimise the use of plastic where possible, facilitate recycling and ensure that we incorporate recycled materials into our packaging – all without compromising the quality and longevity of our product.

  • Recyclable truffle film and flow wraps
  • Exclusive use of clear plastics to allow for recycling
  • Reduce use of metallic card in packaging
  • Palletainers to reduce cardboard use
  • Sustainable-forest sources cartons

Our goal is to completely remove plastic packaging from our entire range, but in the meantime, we will keep chipping away at it as new technologies and more sustainable packaging materials become available. Ensuring our product packaging is as compact as possible is another way we reduce the impact of our product in the larger context of distribution and display.

Energy use
& the environment

We only use 100% renewable energy to power head office (that and truffles of course!) and we offset our direct scope 1 & 2 carbon emissions for our head office by using tools from carbonfootprint.com.

Our funding supports the Carbon Footprint’s global portfolio of carbon reduction programmes across the world via a range of projects that include carbon avoidance, clean and renewable energy generation. Many of these initiatives are carried out in developing countries, where they also provide additional social benefits

Ethical
sourcing

The palm oil in our truffles is Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) certified palm oil. This means that the palm oil that we use is from plantations who commit to not clearing valuable forests in order to grow their crops. Stay up to date with our progress at rspo.org

Sustainability is important to Monty Bojangles, that’s why we work with the Rainforest Alliance. Our range of Magnificent Belgian Chocolate boxes along with our new chocolate bars are all Rainforest Alliance Certified.

The Rainforest Alliance frog seal stands for a better future for people and nature. Certified farms are better and safer places to live and work, where human rights and sustainable agricultural practices must be respected. To learn more about the Rainforest Alliance, visit www.rainforest-alliance.org.

Our Vegan range is growing with a wider selection of flavours and gifts all approved and registered with the Vegan Society, including an Advent Calendar, Truffle Gift Tower and range of Truffle Gift Boxes.

Food
waste

We are conscious of the detrimental that impact food waste has on the environment and do not like seeing any of our products go to waste. To help combat this problem, our planning team work extremely hard to avoid over production of products. Wherever possible, we donate products to local charities to avoid product ending up in waste and ensure our confectionery is enjoyed as much as possible.
